11:01:21 AM [Visitor] do you need to apply for Medicare Premium Assistance yearly? does JFS send a letter stating you need to do this?
11:02:20 AM [Jim Ashmore] This program has a reapplication once a year. And we do send a reapplication packet.

10:59:50 AM [paul Rodgers] I have been off work for 6 months due I qualify for assistance.
11:01:24 AM [Jim Ashmore] Here are some online resources that can help you: http://www.hcjfs.hamilton-co.org/OnlineServiceCenter0906.htm Also, you could come to 222 E. Central Parkway, 7:30-11:30 a.m., Monday-Friday.

10:50:37 AM [Visitor] I am planning to re-locate to Ohio from Florida in about 3 wks. I receive food stamps and medicaid here. What do I need to do so I don't loose these benefits once I get to Ohio?
10:52:29 AM [Jim Ashmore] You will need to provide verification from Florida Job & Family Services (or your equivalent) confirming that they have proposed termination on your benefits due to your move. We can then pursue eligibility in Ohio. The benefits cannot transfer from state to state.

10:36:17 AM [Visitor] we went down to JFS yesterday and when it came to cash assistance, were told to go up and fill out the clipboard and make appt... we did so and the appt is for Oct 20! Our rent is already past due and the electric will be cut off by then... any option to wait for an appointment at Community Link?
10:36:56 AM [Mother of 2] I just changed from visitor to mother of 2
10:38:09 AM [Jim Ashmore] We're researching your question.
10:39:51 AM [Jim Ashmore] Were there any other verifications you needed, or just follow through with Community Link? Here is why I ask: If we have everything and you are just waiting on the Community Link assessment, we can go ahead and approve your OWF application pending your Community Link assessment.
10:42:16 AM [Mother of 2] I THINK all they wanted was my school schedule which I can fax today - unless you mean OVERALL verifications (which we discussed with the case worker downstairs) I plan on picking up my daughter's Birth Cert today and faxing or dropping off all of that info today as well.
10:45:01 AM [Jim Ashmore] As soon as you get all of the verifications you mention in, we should be OK without your formal Community Link assessment being completed. However, please remember it can take up to 30 days for your benefits to be approved regardless. For your emergent situation, you might want to contact the Cincinnati-Hamilton County HPRP program at 513-381-SAFE.

10:38:38 AM [Visitor] In addition to unemployment compensation, what other cash assistance is available?

10:41:56 AM [Jim Ashmore] Typically, if you are receiving unemployment, it is higher than any other cash benefit we offer. As such, you probably would not qualify for cash, but you may qualify for other programs such as food assistance or medical coverage. Here are some online resources: http://www.hcjfs.hamilton-co.org/OnlineServiceCenter0906.htm. Also, you could come to 222 E. Central Parkway, 7:30-11:30 a.m., Monday-Friday.

10:15:10 AM [Visitor] Do I need to send any documentation with the health care application? WIll I have to come for a meeting? Will I have to bring my kids? How long does the process take before I would have health care?

10:23:58 AM [Jim Ashmore] Anything that you can sent relevant to your household situation (copies) will potentially help with the process. If you are only applying for Healthy Start-type medical coverage, you will probably not need to come in for an interview. Typically, the process takes about 30 days.
