10:34:48 AM [Diane] ok, thank you I will come down tomorrow.
10:35:27 AM [Jim Ashmore] Good. We look forward to trying to help you.

10:33:36 AM [Diane] ok, thank you. About how long should I allow for this? Does it take more than an hour?
10:34:18 AM [Jim Ashmore] I would allow at least two hours the first time.

10:27:48 AM [Diane] Hi Jim, I am a single mom with a 7 year old son diagnosed with severe autism. I have been a loan originator for 9 years and did very well until the recent collapse of the market and have suffered a catastrophic loss of income. In 2007, I made 49,000, last year 27,000 and this year only 12,000 from mortgages. I did take anotehr job last year to help make ends meet but was unable to work the hours required of the position due to my son's condition. I continue to look for work that would coincide with my child's need for care but have had no success in 2 years. I am struggling to make ends meet especially with utilities and food. Austin is on a special gluten free casein free diet and the specialty items are very expensive for instance a bag of pretzels is $9. He also requires therapy and supplements to keep him balanced that sometimes I cannot afford to pay. He does have a medicaid card through MRDD but no one seems to take it. Is there any help available for me during this difficult time? Thank you.
10:32:45 AM [Jim Ashmore] Diane, I'm so sympathetic to your situation. You can do some checking here: https://secure.thebenefitbank.com/ums?task=quick_check. Beyond that, I think it would be worthwhile for you to come to our offices at 222 E. Central Parkway to make an application. Best of luck

10:28:06 AM [Visitor] What is the income eligibility requirements for a person with a medical disability that works?
10:30:33 AM [Jim Ashmore] There are numerous variables that come into play. I would suggest trying this Quickcheck link as a starting point and if in doubt, please go ahead and apply. https://secure.thebenefitbank.com/ums?task=quick_check

10:27:41 AM [Stephanie] When the interview is complete and if the client is approved of benefits is there a time limit on when they should receive their benefit letter? If there is a time limit and they do not receive their letter within the time frame what should done? Should I contact the case worker?
10:28:47 AM [Jim Ashmore] Once the case is approved, the approval notices go out that evening (from Columbus). If you are still uncertain, please try to contact 946-1000, and we would appreciate your patience as the wait times are quite lengthy.

10:26:14 AM [Visitor] OK THANX FOR YOUR HELP
10:26:31 AM [Jim Ashmore] You're welcome.

10:23:58 AM [Visitor] AS FAR AS THE FOOD ASSISTANCE GOES IS THE INCOME BASED ON THE OTHER BILLS THAT YOU PAY?
10:24:56 AM [Visitor] IM A COUNTY CHILDCARE PROVIDER BUT WE GOT A PAY CUT NOT A RAISE AND ITS STIL HARD TO RECIEVE ANYTHING FROM THE COUNTY
10:25:59 AM [Jim Ashmore] Here's an online calculator that might help: http://www.snap-step1.usda.gov/fns/index.jsp

10:17:33 AM [Visitor] I understand that their is Medicaid for people that work. How do you go about applying for that?
10:24:42 AM [Jim Ashmore] This is for applying for the children and/or someone in the household is pregnant: http://www.odjfs.state.oh.us/forms/results1.asp?stype=FORM_NUM&searchPar=JFS 07216 Here is the application for all other programs: http://www.odjfs.state.oh.us/forms/interfind.asp?formnum=7200

10:16:32 AM [Visitor] WHY IS IT SO HARD TO RECIEVE FOOD STAMPS IF YOU ARE A SINGLE PARENT
10:16:54 AM [Visitor] I BARELY GET MY CHILD SUPPORT
10:19:47 AM [Visitor] IF I ALREADY RECIEVE MEDICAL COVERAGE FOR MY CHILDREN BASED ON MY INCOME AND FAMILY SIZE WHY IT IS I CANT RECIEV IT FOR MYSELF?
10:22:24 AM [Jim Ashmore] Not sure what you are referring to when you say it's hard to receive food assistance when you are a single parent. It's income-based. As for your question regarding medical, unfortunately there are different financial eligibility standards for the adult (lower) and the children (higher).

10:16:28 AM [Stephanie] I have applied for benefits at BCJFS before but not at HCJFS. Is the time listed below the times 7:30-10:30 that you come in and bring the application and all client paperwork. Is that Mon-Friday or are there certain days.
10:20:04 AM [Jim Ashmore] Yes. You can apply in person, Monday-Friday, 7:30-10:30 a.m., and probably be interviewed the same day. However, if those times won't work for you, we can make other arrangements. Thanks for the question--and best of luck.

10:15:39 AM [Debbie] My brother's wife has left him and their two sons. My brother lost his job late last year,
10:16:22 AM [Debbie] worked for himself. Is he entitled to any benefits? Food stamps?
10:18:15 AM [Jim Ashmore] Most likely, yes. Here's a link that might help: https://secure.thebenefitbank.com/ums?task=locator By all means, I would encourage him to go ahead and apply if there is even a remote likelihood of his eligibility.

9:57:57 AM [Jim Ashmore] I'd suggest that they come to 222 E. Central Parkway between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. to apply. They could also go to the Super Jobs Center to learn about services available there. Here's a link: http://www.superjobs.com/ There are many services that might be helpful to your folks. Best of luck.
