The Health Services section of the
Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services offers a variety
of services to qualifying residents.

Pregnancy Services
Pregnancy Services provides prenatal
care, education and nutrition counseling for Medicaid-eligible pregnant
women. The program helps to promote healthy pregnancies and reduce the
chances of premature deliveries and low birth-weight babies.
Case managers help Medicaid-eligible
pregnant women with a variety of services, including:

choosing an obstetrician and a
pediatrician
-
scheduling appointments
-
teaching mom how to properly care
for herself and her family
-
getting WIC assistance (Women,
Infants & Children - provides food and nutrition education for
pregnant women, breast-feeding mothers and children under 5 years
old)
-
finding help with life barriers
such as transportation, housing, addictions, mental health issues,
domestic violence and/or emotional support
-
locating community supports such
as childbirth classes, parenting classes, and family planning if
desired
-
building skills and abilities to
find, get and keep a job
-
finding information about child
support
-
arranging child care
Eligibility is based on income and
family size.

Healthy Start/Healthy Families
These are two Medicaid programs that
help cover health-related costs:
Healthy Start is geared toward
pregnant women and toward children up to age 19. Eligibility is based on
income and family size.
Healthy Families helps children
under the age of 19 and parents with incomes at or under 90 percent of
the federal poverty level.

Healthchek provides preventive
and treatment services for anyone under the age of 21 who is eligible
for Medicaid coverage.
Medicaid Fraud &
Overpayment Recovery
To help prevent Medicaid misuse and
fraud, the Fraud unit was created and continues to operate as part of
the Health Services unit. Staff have been very successful in determining
fraudulent use - and they have been very successful collecting Medicaid
overpayments as well.
