Medicaid is
state and federally funded health care
coverage. HCJFS administers Medicaid
programs that provide health care coverage
to:
-
Income-eligible parents and their
children up to age 21
-
Preventive
and treatment services up to age 21
-
Pregnant
women
-
Older
adults
-
Income-eligible people with disabilities
-
Children
in foster care
Medicaid is very broad, with two major
covered groups, Aged, Blind, and Disabled
(ABD), and Covered Families and Children
(CF&C).
There are several Medicaid programs:

Healthy Start
is geared toward pregnant women and
children up to age 19. Eligibility is
based on income and family size.

Healthy Families
helps children under age 19 and parents
with incomes at or under 90 percent of
the federal poverty level.
-
Healthchek
provides preventive and treatment
services for anyone eligible for
Medicaid under age 21.
-
The
Pregnancy
Related Services
staff provide prenatal
care, education and nutrition
counseling.
-
Aged,
Blind and Disabled Medicaid
includes
nursing home and in-home care.

HCJFS
customers who are receiving Medicaid
assistance may be eligible for
transportation services. To be eligible,
customers must:

be
Medicaid customers in Hamilton County
-
request
transportation ONLY to a Medicaid
provider
-
not be a
resident of a long-term care facility
-
not be
pregnant
-
be able to
transfer from a wheelchair to vehicle
independently
Transportation requests must be made
at least 5 days in advance. For more
