Child Support

Child Support is money required by law to be paid by one parent to another to help cover the costs of raising children. For more information, click here.

Food, cash and medical assistance
......................................................................................................................

Consumers can usually apply for food, cash and medical assistance by completing one application. Follow the links below for more information or read on to find out more about each program.

Food Assistance (formerly food stamps) is a monthly benefit for eligible individuals and families to purchase food. Benefits come in the form of a plastic card called the Ohio Direction Card. For more information, click here.

Cash Assistance, or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), is the federal program that funds many cash assistance programs across Ohio. The dollars provide a monthly payment (through EPPICard debit card or direct deposit) to low-income families with minor children at home. For more information click here.

Medicaid is state and federally funded health care coverage. To find out more information about these programs, click here.

Some consumers may also be eligible for Healthy Start/Healthy Families. Healthy Start is no-cost medical insurance geared toward pregnant women and children up to age 19. Eligibility is based on income and family size. For more information about this program, click here.

Prevention, Retention, Contingency (PRC) is short-term help for those who don't qualify for other programs. To apply, follow the instructions here.
