Agency names media spokesperson/communications manager
July 27, 2006 -- Executive Administrator/Public
Relations Carol Watson today announced the hiring of Brian Gregg as media
spokesperson/communications manager. He starts Aug. 10.
“Brian has 15 years of experience in journalism and public relations,” Watson
said. “With this experience, he has established relationships with the media
that will be an asset to our agency. We are fortunate to have Brian join our
Communications team.”
Gregg has served as a reporter for some of the largest and best-known newspapers
in the country. In the mid-to-late 1990s, he covered the agency for The
Cincinnati Enquirer.
He comes to HCJFS from the top public relations post at Hill-Rom Corp., a global
health care company with more than 6,000 employees.
“Joining Hamilton County Job and Family Services allows me to get into the
business of helping people,” Gregg said. “As a former newspaper reporter, I’ve
always felt a job should be more than a paycheck...there needs to be a higher
calling to do something positive in this world.”
Agency Director Rick Roberts called Gregg “a welcome addition to our
Communications staff.” He noted that Gregg’s experience writing about the agency
gave him the opportunity to understand our system, staff and the customers we
serve--as well as the role of the agency’s spokesperson.
Gregg fills a vacancy created when Laurie Petrie left to
join the Council on Aging of Southwest Ohio.
“Children’s Service Section Chief Janet Coleman, an interview panel member,
said: “It was clear to me that Brian possessed purpose, passion and
personality... all three qualities necessary for the unique job of media
spokesperson here at the department.”
