November: National Adoption
Month
“You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent. There are thousands of
teens in foster care who would love to put up with you.”
--2007 theme
Nov. 1, 2006 -- November is
National Adoption Month, a time set aside to
raise awareness about the adoption of children from foster care. This year’s
theme of adopting teens from foster care builds on the Ad Council’s new public
service announcement (PSA) campaign of the Children’s Bureau, the Adoption
Exchange Association, and The Collaboration to AdoptUsKids.
Meanwhile, Hamilton County Children's Services will host 300 foster and adoptive parents and kids at the Cincinnati Zoo on Nov. 18 as part of National Adoption Day festivities. Attendees will enjoy hot dogs and soda pop while watching an animal wrangler at a zoo building. Then, they’ll be free to check out the Festival of Lights and return for hot chocolate. Those who can’t attend will get discounted festival tickets.
