Roberts announces retirement

CINCINNATI, Jan. 23, 2007 - Rick Roberts, director of Hamilton County's Department of Job and Family Services, announced his retirement effective June 30, 2007. Roberts has served as director since July 18, 2005. He's had a 30-year career in public service, starting at the Hamilton County Welfare Department in 1977. He's also worked for Bulter County and the State of Ohio.

Roberts plans to spend time with his family.

"It is fitting that I end my public-service career where it all began," he said. "This is home to me. Thirty years is a long time. Throughout it all, I never quit learning. Every day was something different and the chance to put a smile on the face of someone who needed it. You can’t really ask for much more than that."

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners and County Administrator Patrick Thompson will conduct a national search to replace Roberts.
