Help us build awareness Dear friends, Sometimes, mothers in love can’t see the warning signs. They think that because their partner loves them, he will love their child. It is a mistake that can be fatal. In Hamilton County, 35 percent of child abuse deaths in the past five years have been attributed to mom’s boyfriend. That’s higher than the national rate – 15 percent according to 2006 statistics from the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System – and higher than the Ohio average of 28 percent. Hamilton County has had its share of high profile cases over the past five years. One death is too many. Mothers need to be aware that the partner they choose has a great influence in their child’s life. Choosing the wrong partner can be, literally, deadly. |
