Director's Letter: 2012 New Year's Resolution is Collaboration

Moira Weir

My 2012 New Year’s resolution for our agency is that we work more closely than ever with our consumers, partners and other key stakeholders to ensure we are delivering the services this community needs.

We have always had tremendous relationships with our many social service partners, business partners and elected officials in our community. At a recent roundtable discussion on child welfare held by Attorney General Mike DeWine, I made note of the great collaboration we have with the courts, schools, hospitals, Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office and others when it comes to serving the abused and neglected children of this community.

Child Support to Renew Partnership with WCPO

Hamilton County Job and Family Services' Child Support Enforcement Agency recently renewed a relationship with WCPO to broadcast the names and pictures of delinquent parents on Channel 9 in an attempt to locate them and collect overdue child support.

Each week, HCJFS will select a parent who has had a warrant out for their arrest because of money owed in child support. Typically, the parents are also considered in contempt of court because they failed to show up for a court hearing.

“The goal is to increase exposure for the program and those not paying as a way to get the word out about these folks so we will be more likely to locate them and collect,” Section Chief Michael Patton said.

"Now we can stay in our home and have enough money to pay our bills. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!" the mother wrote to Child Support Enforcement Technician Cynthia Peterson.
