Dear friends,

We’re embarking on an exciting project at Job and Family Services. We’ve hired a consulting firm, Management Partners, Inc., of Cincinnati, to help us develop a strategic plan that will guide this organization for the next three years.

This is critical for us. Our business is changing rapidly. The faltering economy is leading more to our doors and there is no sign of a slowdown. Our resources are shrinking, so we have to find a way to do more with less. Advances in technology, communication, training and other areas are being incorporated into our daily lives at a rapid pace. This plan will give us a blueprint for our future.

We’re an organization that serves hundreds of thousands a year, either through our Children’s Services program, Child Support Enforcement Agency or our public assistance programs. We have a $1.1 billion budget and nearly 1,500 employees. It is imperative that an organization of our size and impact has a plan to understand and meet the needs of its community, its clients and its employees. We won’t settle for good enough; we want to be great at what we do.

Management Partners will delve into our background and look toward our future by interviewing staff, our partners, local community leaders and the people we serve. The company’s experts will help us identify our strengths and weaknesses and what threats or opportunities lie ahead. Most importantly, they’ll help us set goals and remove roadblocks that keep us from achieving our mission of being the center of a collaborative effort to help Hamilton County’s most vulnerable residents.

One key component of the plan is soliciting feedback. We’re developing ways to ensure we have community input. We’ll definitely ask for help from some of you. We simply cannot do this alone. As the vision says, we will be the center of a collaborative effort to help this county’s most vulnerable residents. We must all work together to be successful.

I’m eager to see what we’ll look like in the future. When asked, I encourage you to share your thoughts with us. It will make us a better organization.

Sincerely,

Moira
