Several
children -- victims of abuse and neglect -- will join permanent, loving families on Nov. 20 in
Hamilton County’s third annual mass adoption ceremony to
celebrate National Adoption Month.
The Hamilton County
Job and Family Services Department will team with the county’s
Probate Court to organize the event.
Also planned for National Adoption Month are:
-
A live online chat
about adoption, 10-11 a.m., Nov. 4, on
www.hcjfs.org.
-
A skating party for children
available for adoption and families interested in adopting them
noon-3 p.m., Saturday Nov. 7, at the Skatin' Place in Colerain.
-
An appreciation
event for adoptive families, those waiting to adopt, children
available for adoption and their foster families, 6-8:30 p.m.,
Nov. 20, at Mayerson Jewish Community Center, 8485 Ridge Road.
The event will have carnival games, a maze, magicians, face
painting, a balloon artist, an aerial show and more. The Amazing
Portable Circus will provide entertainment.
Hamilton County is on
pace for more than 100 adoptions this year. In 2007, the agency set a
record with 135 and 115 were adopted last year. About 215
children are available for adoption at any one time.
