Who Are the Waiting Children?

Currently, more than 300 children are waiting to be adopted in Hamilton County. They come from a variety of backgrounds, neighborhoods, economic circumstances, and living situations.

In Hamilton County, the majority of children available for adoption are:

  • African American

  • over the age of ten and/or

  • part of a sibling group.

While the majority of children waiting to be adopted come from situations of abuse and neglect, they are also just like any other children: they have hopes and dreams, favorite toys and pastimes, and career aspirations, to name a few. The only difference is their lives have often been unstable or turbulent.

Some have physical or emotional disabilities or developmental delays. Infants and toddlers are rarely available for adoption recruitment.

Regardless of their age, sex, race, physical or emotional status, these children need safe, loving, permanent homes.

Maybe you can offer that stability to them!
