Butterflies & Blue Ribbons

The Southwest Ohio Family Care Affiliate (SWOFCA), Hamilton County’s foster and adoptive parent support group, coordinated this year’s “Butterflies & Blue Ribbons” celebration at Krohn Conservatory on Wednesday, May 13. Many foster families stopped by to enjoy the butterfly exhibit as a way of saying “thank you” for their work to help children in agency care.

Foster Care on the Square

Agencies offered provided literature and talked with many people interested in knowing more about foster parenting. Participants also got a chance to win one of four gift certificates donated to the Collaborative.

Every Child’s Hope Weekend

National Foster Care Month wrapped up with the biggest event of the month! “Every Child’s Hope” drew about 150 people to Landmark Church on Saturday, May 30 to hear from keynote speakers, including Texas-based minister Bishop W.C. Martin and Chris Padbury of Project 1.27 in Colorado. Holly Schlaak of ProKids also talked about her book, “Invisible Kids”.

The Coalition of Care of Greater Cincinnati, a group of 26 Hamilton County churches dedicated to helping children locally and around the world, planned the weekend. Events kicked off Friday, May 29 with a concert with comedian and author Chonda Pierce, and culminated with ministers of the Coalition churches preaching about the need to foster and/or adopt local children in care.
