Changes in training, online recruitment options

Training moves from Taft to A&D building, Ohio Adoption Photo Listing folds

Pre-service training classes and others held at our Taft Rd. office will move to the A&D building on E. Central Pkwy. starting Thursday, Aug. 20. A&D is located at 222 E. Central Pkwy. in downtown Cincinnati.

The last class to be held at Taft will be Orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

In other changes, the Ohio Adoption Photo Listing (OAPL), one of the tools used by Hamilton County and other county agencies seeking adoptive homes for waiting children, has been closed. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services announced in late July that the site would no longer be updated or accept new submissions or updates.

The change is the result of state budget cuts enacted by the General Assembly, resulting ODJFS's decision to rescind the

Ohio Administrative Code rule requiring placement of waiting children on OAPL.

This change will affect how HCJFS uses web sites to recruit for children waiting to be adopted. Beginning in August 2009, children available for adoption will be placed on the HCkids web site, www.hckids.org.

We appreciate your patience as we move to this new use of available web sites to assist our recruitment efforts. If you have any questions, please call us at (513) 632-6366.

Business, faith communities & community groups:

Help kids who need safe, supportive homes

Attention businesses, places of worship and community groups: we need you!

If you have space for a small poster and/or a brochure display about foster care and adoption, please let us know. Community Adoption & Foster Care Recruitment would love to work with you!

Many people who come to our information sessions tell us they decided to look into fostering and/or adopting more after they have talked with other people they know or from information at places they frequent - hair salons, cafes, places of worship, gyms, even the workplace!

We can also spend an hour or so talking with you and your staff, or be there during business hours, to provide helpful information and answer questions.

To arrange for a display, or if you have questions, call John Cummings at (513) 946-7587 or email him at cummij02@jfs.hamilton-co.org.
