Community Adoption Recruitment

launching new teen campaign

If you think just a few older Hamilton County children are waiting to be adopted, think again.

“There are 205 children in permanent custody right now without an adoptive placement,” said John Cummings, community adoption recruitment manager for Hamilton County JFS. “Of those, 142 – over 69 percent – are 10 years old or older.  And 113 – about 55 percent – have been in custody longer than one year. They shouldn’t have to wait.”
Enter a new adoption campaign launching later this month. HCJFS will begin airing a new television commercial, followed by targeted billboards and posters in various communities and neighborhoods. Community outreach is also planned through social groups and places of worship.

The Everyday Heroes Collaborative formed in 2007 to increase the number of foster homes in Hamilton County. Member agencies include HCJFS, Beech Acres, Buckeye Ranch/Square One, Lighthouse Youth Services, NECCO, Pressley Ridge, SAFY, St. Aloysius Orphanage and St. Joseph Orphanage.

Everyday Heroes Collaborative members answer phones at Channel 9 on Wednesday, April 28.
